Things To Do

Pelican Point is so comfortable you may never want to leave, but in the event you do there are many great places to visit and restaurants to enjoy.

Places to Visit:

Surf side Park Beach:  This beach is located just two blocks away from Pelican Point so walking there is no problem.  If you have too much to carry to walk there is a convenient free parking lot complete with showers and bathrooms.

Vilano Beach:  This beach is located 5 minutes from Pelican Point at the Vilano Beach Town Center and is a local favorite.  For a small fee you can park your car right on the beach, so no worries about multiple trips to the parking lot to unload all your beach accessories.

Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum:  Just over 3 miles from Pelican Point is St. Augustine’s weirdest museum.  Prepare to be amazed, creeped out, and baffled by what you will find inside here. CAUTION: May be too scary for small children.

Castillo de San Marcos:  Less than 4 miles from Pelican Point is one of America’s oldest Forts.  Located right by St. Georges Street, and right on the River it is a great stop for any history buff and exciting to explore for children.

St. Augustine Premium Outlets:  Just under 4 miles from Pelican Point is one of St. Augustine's biggest shopping centers.  The stores range from Levi to Gucci so there is something there to get everyone's attention.

St. George Street:  Located just 4 miles from Pelican Point, this is a great place to spend the afternoon.  St. George Street is a pedestrian only road walled in on both sides with every type of gift shop or restaurant you could ever want. 

Alligator Farm:  Less than 6 miles from Pelican Point is the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.  Here you can find every species of Alligator, Crocodile, and Caiman as well as many exotic birds, monkeys, and even Komodo Dragons.

St. Augustine Lighthouse:  Located less than 6 miles from Pelican Point, this is a great way to get your museum fix and your day’s exercise.  Visit the museum and you get to climb to the top of the lighthouse, where you get a bird’s eye view of St. Augustine.  If you are into the paranormal go at night for the Ghost Tour.

Anastasia State Park:  Just 6 miles from Pelican Point lies St. Augustine’s finest nature park.  Over 1600 acres of beach and forest give you plenty of places to explore.  If you love water sports, hit the beach, or if you are more of a wildlife enthusiast bring your camera and binoculars go tracking in the woods.

World Golf Village: A bit more of a drive (but worth it) at 15 miles from Pelican Point you will find the World Golf Hall of Fame and much more.  No worries if you are the only one who enjoys golf and golf history, leave the rest of your party at the IMAX theater.  They can enjoy the largest viewing screen in the south and you can play the back nine.

These are just a few of the many museums and places to visit near Pelican Point.  There are also several fishing charters, and places to rent boats and other watercraft right nearby so there is something to make everyone in your group happy.

Places to Eat:

Benito's Pizza & Pastabilities: Only 1 mile from Pelican Point this is a great pizzaria.  Pizza is their specialty but if that is not what you crave, no worries.  They have many menu options from subs to pasta.  Benito's is a short walk from the beach, so enjoy a beach walk after your meal and watch the sunset.

Cap’s on the Water:
  Just under 3 miles from Pelican Point, this restaurant both Southern and Mediterranean dishes, fresh seafood, and has an extensive wine list.  Dining on the intracoastal waterway.  Great view, quiet, peaceful outdoor dining.

Aunt Kate's: Located under 3 miles from Pelican Point, this is a great place for family dining.  Sit inside or dine outside right along side the river.  If your lucky you might catch a glimpse of the Florida Manatee or some dolphins catching some air.  Enjoy the sun setting over the river as you savor some classic southern cuisine.

Barnacle Bill's:  Only 3 miles from Pelican Point is one of St. Augustine’s seafood restaurants.   They have a great menu, and a large list of sides to pick from so you can create your own custom feast.

A1A Ale Works:  Located just under 4 miles from Pelican Point, this restaurant has so many delicious items on the menu you may have to come back for seconds.  They brew their own award winning beers so this place is a great find for any beer connoisseur. Upstairs balcony dining, downstairs bar entertainment.

Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille:  Just less than 4 miles from Pelican Point is St. Augustine’s best New Orleans style food.   Get a taste of all the favorites from red beans and rice to shrimp and grits.  Indoor dining and outdoor dining/entertainment nightly.

The Conch House:  Located 5 miles from Pelican Point on the water at the marina is a local favorite.  You can eat out on the deck in grass huts and watch the boats drift by.  They offer seafood, Caribbean dishes, and great steaks.  If you are dining without the kids tonight check out their cocktail lounge.  Entertainment.
